That's a beautiful building! I'm suprised those copper gutters & downspouts are still there though...

It's surrounded by active hospital buildings so it is pretty pristine. There are active security/police that drive around frequently.

did you ever have an urge to go through the boxes or read some of the papers hanging around? How intriguing that so much stuff was left behind. When did it get closed?

Most of those boxes were filled with dot matrix print outs of Dept of Health and Mental Hygiene records which were not even related to this building or hospital. I think they use the place to just warehouse their junk.

10 & 11 look like windows that, if unbarred, would lead to nothing but 3 walls. If that's so, then what's the point, I wonder?

what's up with all of the mortar having beveled edges like that? i've never seen that before on any building...that's a lot of trouble to go to...
