The Patea freezing works was a meat processing plant that shut down in 1982. It smells like ass.
a long time was spent here discussing how to get across the river. eventually we decided on 'cross the main road'. we also received a gesture from a local which was either a unique greeting or 'don't u fucking dare go over there' .
this area used to be full of dead sheep, hence the assy smell.
