Not this kind of a missile site. This was a NIKE missile launch and mx facility (unless I miss my guess). Though it's possible there is a target calculation, it's doubtful.

This is definately a Nike Radar Center. The launch magazines would be at a different facility about 2 miles away.

=)

very cool! Do you have an idea as to what the 7th to the last one is? (lostparadise004.jpg) Kinda looks like a mounting platform with a track thingy around it.

Actually, its not a track but a wiring trench. Thats the generator room, the trenches would allow access to conduit and fuel lines comming from other parts of the facility. You can also see the holes in the wall left for the exhaust ports.

Is this site HM03 near Opa Locka? If so, I may have to correct myself above, thats was one of the few US based Nike sites that had above ground launch facilities.

Was it you who posted some other pictures of this place recently? That first shot is very familiar. That's a ton of graffiti! Some of it is kinda cool looking, but I always wish people didn't feel the need to scribble all over everything with spray paint.
In any case, I want to check it out now. Especially since I'm in Miami every other weekend.

Its by Mikasoukii casino on Krome, if you go dont park there, the police pass by looking for people who tresspass there, its governemnet Property so if you get caught you risk 6 months in jail and a $500 fine.

People have really been at work here, long after it was abandoned. I wonder if that qualifies. ;)

so basically your saying a place is no longer abandoned if other people go there after the owners have abandoned it? like everyone else here does?

Originally this was supposed to be a humouous comment pertaining to the fact that the place seems to be well visited after it no longer had a "use", therefore poking fun at the word abandoned, as this community would have you assume ~ get it? ~ but apparently netspeak didn't work in my favor. I've never had this problem before here, and for now, I'd rather give up than argue.

Not to keep things going, but there are no guidelines in the userinfo as to what is "abandoned" and what's not. It's had no real purpose for nearly 30 years.

Again, I was trying to be a little more wry with my comments, instead of just saying the usual WOW ZOMG!@#^* stuff. Why do we all have to be so serious?

In the future you might want to phrase your words carefully, so that they in fact sound "humoRous" opposed to words that could infact cause an argument. You might not have had this problem before because most people choose to ignore rudeness, i dont. I like to hit a problem head on and try to understand what you mean by something, and then understand where you're coming from. Future reference, maybe say what you mean, instead of tip-toe'n around the point. You might be misunderstood less and avoid confrontation by people who are offended by your words.

1. Do you think I was trying to cause an argument, because now we have one?

2. Were you personally offended by my words?

Here again is the original statement: People have really been at work here, long after it was abandoned. I wonder if that qualifies. ;) Sounds silly to me, especially with that trademark winking smiley after the sentences. There was nothing off color about what I said, and this isn't tip-toeing around the generic statement, hey man, nice shots.

I am one, too, to immediately confront something head on, but why would I choose this forum, in which I am just one of many on the same scale, to boast with rudeness?

And no, I don't expect you to answer. I'm just stating my presentation.

All i did was ask what you meant, yea what you said was rude, i find this rude too. I never attacked you, if you can read, go ahead and actually read what i said. I questioned you and then presented my opinion on your words, my guess is i must have offended you because if i didnt there wouldnt be this really big comment here, Im sorry if i offended you, Im also sorry that you are a rude person. Like i said "Future reference, maybe say what you mean, instead of tip-toe'n around the point. You might be misunderstood less and avoid confrontation by people who are offended by your words." :) <---trademark happy face hopes you can feel better.

No, I can REALLY be rude, and I'm not sorry of it. But I won't be rude to you, because I have no reason.
