Abandoned factories in Mumbai, India

These are from a few abandoned factories in Mulund, a small suburb in the city of Mumbai, India. Once upon a time, industry flourished, but the fall of a lot of small industries has led them to ruin. In time, industries grew up on patches of land specially designed for them, far away from human populace, and the abandoned ones stayed as they were, snapshots of a bygone era. Nature has reclaimed it's own. But one wonders, for how long?

Cockatoo Island - Sydney, Australia

Cockatoo Island lies in the middle of the Sydney Harbour. It has had many roles over the years, including a factory, a prison, and a school for wayward girls. Now, (after being closed to the public for 100 years) it's a popular place to go to explore the past.

Abandoned Factory

I took these pictures in a little town named Crépy-En-Valois (France).
I don't really know what this place used to be. I guess it was a factory, or something like that. It's huge, and there's fantastic graffitis on the walls.

Abandoned factory in Saint-Petersburg

We recently with my girlfriend went to St. Petersburg to see a musical performance in the theatre. But at the same time, we walked to my most beloved city. Enjoy its beauty, admire the Neva river, in the next take a stroll along Nevsky Prospekt, and then again and again get lost in the small streets and courtyards. To study it, amazing entrance; enjoy the views from the roofs. And then sit in the cafes and drink hot chocolate and mulled wine in the company of the beloved person. I present to your attention the photos from one of the abandoned factory, visited us at this time. Quite interesting ;).

climb over the three-meter fence and get in the factory buildingCollapse )

Abandon Factory- Proctor Vermont

From my best guess this factory was involved in marble cutting. Proctor, at one point was one of the marble capitals of the state. Now it's being used as storage. Every time I go there there is different stuff in the main room, and it's harder to find a way inside. The pictures I'm posting are from two or three separate visits.  There are two ways to get to the factory, one is to park on a back road and walk about a half a mile down the train tracks until you find an old foundation. The other way is to park at the library and pray no one sees you sneaking down the railroad tracks 100 feet and into the doors of the factory.

Since I've been so many times the pictures are of varying quality (I've been through a few different cameras) but hopefully they still capture the essence of the factory. My friends and I usually go here at least once per summer. This summer I hope to go again and get some awesome pictures with my digital SLR that I didn't have any of the other three times I went.

Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Glidden Atlanta: Requiescat in pace

As I haven't seen anything mentioned here yet, I would like to begin the memorial service for Glidden Paint. This iconic urbex destination in Atlanta is currently meeting its demise. Many people from Flickr, UER, and elsewhere are reporting that the area is now fenced off and being demolished, with work likely completing within the month. APD had already stepped up patrols of the area, popping many explorers in the past weeks, so this comes as little surprise. That said, I would like to share some of my past shots from 4 visits, and open the floor to anyone who would care to share their own or say some parting words.
