Sort of Abandoned

This is not necessarily abandoned as much as it is "abandoned in place". Sloss Furnace is a former pig iron plant that closed in 1971. Much of this location appears like it did 35 years ago, and the City of Birmingham operates it as a gigantic museum you can wander around in all on your own. A lot of the rusty equipment dates back to 1882 when the place opened. This is a great spot that gives you the feel of an abandoned location without all the pesky trespassing. (not that there's anything wrong with that)
