Last summer, I took a digital photography course, and had the opportunity to visit two abandoned sites.
The first, I bring you in this post: Linfield Industrial Park/Kinsey Distilling Corp., in Linfield, PA. Bonus! It's the backyard of formerly mentioned Pennhurst :-D
I'm not sure when the distillery closed its doors, and find very little information when I do a search (could be cuz it went by multiple names). A few years ago, the gigantic property was severely overgrown, but it appears that the state game commission has come in and cleaned it up quite a bit, and the property (which was once part of the state game lands) has been sold to a private owner. Yay, trespassing!
The photos are kinda eh, considering I was entirely unfamiliar with the camera I was using (yay for friends having expensive things that they let me fiddle with for the purposes of my edumacation!).
Edited to add:
One lonely picture, of myself, taken by jayv and used with his permission:
Bethlehem Steel, Bethlehem, PA. Out of operation for about 30 years.
The place is absolutely HUGE. Unfortunately, as I was intended to be the model and not the explorer, I was wearing crazy-strappy-kill-myself heels and couldn't get in. I'll ask Jay for more shots, I'm sure they're somewhere on his or his bro's Buzznet – they took some marvelous pictures.
Next post: Philadelphia's Eastern State Penitentiary, if acceptable.
