Exploring in Huntsville, AL

Heya! New explorer here, hailing from northern Alabama. Recently, a friend and I set out to explore some of the local urban decay, in the form of cotton mills that were built here in the late 1800s. The one we wanted to go into, Lincoln Mills, turned out to be a bit less abandoned than we expected- apparently, part of the complex is still used for metalworking- but we got some shots of the less-occupied bits.

We searched for a second mill, Dallas Mills, which apparently was situated next to Lincoln Mills, but found only a vacant lot with scant remainders of the building that had once lived there.

Many people find the fact that I photograph and paint buildings in a state of disrepair and various other kinds of urban decay "strange"

—I wonder if the people here are fascinated for the same reasons I am.

I just spent the past hour looking at previous posts. This community is great. I got interested in abandoned about 2 years ago, and recently started exploring and taking pictures myself.
