When I think about construction in NYC I think of it as something to watch over the course of a few months. Most buildings rise with alarming speed. Even in the course of a single day a building may grow by several floors.

So, I was pretty shocked to find out that there is a building they've been working on completing for over 100 years... not only that, it is also the largest building of its kind in the world and they aren't even done yet.

As if that wasn't enough this building has become the center of a urban planning controversy.
