Thank you for the encouragement to post, especially you JJ. Here are some more pics from Antigua Guatemala. The city was founded in the 1500's as the capital of Guatemala, but was abandoned after numerous earthquakes and eruptions of nearby volcanoes. It made a comeback in the 1700's, and many of its buildings have section that are in current use, but also have attached ruins. The room I stayed in for example had a section that went back to the original Convent that was on the site before the church was rebuilt in 1778.
Anyway, a bunch of shots behind the cut from the city, I will post some from Tikal, the Mayan ruins soon. ( I am a ruins junkie ;))( Collapse )
