I'm curious..

Anybody know of abandoned places in southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware or northeastern Maryland? I don't have a lot to do these days and since we're having a pretty mild winter/spring, I'm in the mood for exploring.

Abandon Places – The Lost Golf Course (Aug 07)

I’m taking these trips a bit out of order but I figure this might be a good example of why I go exploring – over-development. Angela (my companion of much of last summer) and I went to a site she found near Lancaster. She found what had formerly been a full-sized golf course, which shrank down to a driving range, then shrank to merely a golf shop and attached houses. By the time we explored it, the local mega-developer “KB Homes” had already built soulless subdivisions on the three other corners adjacent to this site, and this area showed signs of impending demolition. I searching it, we found more than a few cool surprises. I’m dividing this into three sections, one for each house, and one for the golf shop/bar.

hi everyone *waves*

i was wondering whether anyone had any suggestions of places to explore around chicago that are relatively safe (by relatively safe, i mean there's no need to worry about getting shot at!) to explore? a friend and i wanted to check out some places, but the ones we've come up with, namely, the ones near my house, are all sorts of shady, and i'm pretty sure some of the abandoned buildings double as drug houses/whore houses ...

so yes, any suggestions of places that you've heard of, or been to yourself would be great!

thank you!

edit: Sorry about offending people with my question. Obviously, I'm new to this, so I didn't know you weren't supposed to ask about locations. The reason I was asking about the relative 'shadiness' about certain areas is because I live in one myself, where people shooting at each other is not surprising at all, and most of the abandoned buildings in this area 'belong' to one gang or another, and they often use the buildings for their meetings and activities as such. I was just curious about how it was in other places around Chicago, and wanted to get an idea of what to expect and things like that from people who were there. Yeah, some of it is rather obvious, but I didn't want to mess up on my first time around and end up in the hospital or anything. I just thought it would be a good idea to ask those with experience first.

Arsenic, Lead, and PCBs.. OH MY!

I found this place randomly, while on the way to checking out other sites on my list. It's 880,000 sq ft. There were a few buildings I didn't even get the chance to check out. This is one of the creepier sites I have been to. Melting ice inside + melting snow on the roof + low 40s temperatures = constant dripping sounds from leaky things and fog -inside- the building. Creeeeeeepy!
