On a recent trip to Lake Oconee we happened across this old jail. They used to take jail pretty seriously: I don't think tying a rope to the bars and pulling it out with a horse would work here. The walls are two feet of solid granite, and there's almost no light or ventilation through the bars:
Supposedly you can get inside, if you happen to catch the guy who keeps the keys. He works at the local newspaper, and he's in most mornings, unless he's out reporting or something. We didn't find him; it was Saturday and he'd already gone home for the day.
