Abandoned Places – Huntsville Row Cottages (Fall 08)

Hi again folks. I know it’s been a while since my last post but I’ve been vusy. Here’s a little something from last fall.

These cottages once supported a local cotton mill. These housed the single men working in the mill during the 1920’s and 30’s. They survived the closure of the mill in the 1950’s and became low income apartments. By the 1990’s these were emptied out and several others were slated for demolition by the city of Huntsville. These were saved when the neighborhood was declared a historic site. Boarded up, they now await renovation and an uncertain future.
