Abandoned Places – Burned Print shop (Jan 09) - Part 1 of 2

I completely forgot I had these photos till I had to back-up a bunch of files and documents. Last January, while wandering town, I came up this former light industrial site in the heart of Huntsville. It was a cold raw and windy Sunday so I estimated I had 10 to 15 minutes to do a quick exploration before the authorities could arrive.

ELYSIUM, Southern Florida

Awhile back, a few friends and I went to this abandoned old folks home that we had the misconception of being a haunted, abandoned sanitarium or asylum or something. Well, it's really just an old folks home, but it doesn't make it any less creepy looking. There are two floors and a pool area. Most of the windows are broken out and it IS guarded nightly by security - we didn't trespass but the guard on duty agreed that he "didn't know" that we were ever there. It closed after a hurricane in 2004 made damages to it that were too expensive to repair. A fire started on the second floor in 2007, which was put out pretty easily, but I believe it's going to be demolished soon. A lot of the rooms are plagued with black mold because Florida's climate is just so moist and acommodating. I took a few pictures, so enjoy ^^
