Old Convenience store, Chuckatuck, Virginia

Hey guys, this is my first post here.  I've been going through old houses, farmsteads, and factories for years, and never thought to take pictures until i happened across this site while searching for ghost towns about a year ago.  Chuckatuck is in Suffolk county, and I've never been there until Saturday, despite having lived here in Hampton Roads for several years-hadn't even heard of it.

I would have gone in, but decided not to for several reasons, the two main ones being that it was on the main drag of the area, and honestly, this thing just looked pretty rotten in general.  If you look closely you can see that the back door on the stairs above has been opened.  I'm guessing the local kids go in and do God knows what.

The building itself looks like it was built in the 1890's, but that's just a guess based on the style and the fact that all the plumbing is outside of the building itself.  Other than that, I know very little.  It just looked so forlorn, I had to take pictures of it.

I do travel around the area quite a bit, and there are plenty of abandoned places around here.  I am going home over the weekend, and will be travelling on Rte 13 on the Eastern Shore, which is a treasure trove of places that I have wanted to take a look at for a while now, so I might stop at a few of the more interesting ones to take some pictures.  Enjoy!
