August 2013 Explorations (+bonus photos, because why not)

August was hot. And when it's hot, I get lazy. Fortunately it wasn't hot all month, so I still got out there and explored whenever the heat and humidity failed to melt me into a sad puddle of trespassing photographer on the floor.

I'll start with the most recent of our explorations; a Saturday spent exploring two abandoned churches. The first was Sacred Heart Roman Catholic, an unassuming, somewhat uninspiring brick church in a dying neighborhood. The inside, however... well, see for yourself.

Pool Park Asylum

"Pool Park was built in 1826-1829 for the second Lord Bagot. It was acquired by the North Wales Counties Mental Hospital and opened in 1937 to accommodate 87 patients for relief of overcrowding at the Denbigh hospital. It closed in 1990, and has lain empty since then."
