Off of a quiet street in Mundelein, Illinois, is an old hotel, The Central Hotel, established in 1896. Unfortunately, I have not yet uncovered any historical information on this site, but hopefully a visit to town hall can change that. I have no clue if it will be raized soon or not, but I have a feeling it probably will. Such a neat building too. Could be a nice bed-and-breakfast. I couldn't take pictures of the inside, there wasn't a decent way in, and besides the area was crowded with people (read the caption of the last picture.) All I saw when I peered through the window was a half broken toilet lying in the middle of a big room, and a couch, and what looked like a fan in the window. The property is owned by someone, and I assume they go in there every so often, but the place is in disrepair.

(sideways) This shows the papers hanging on the door - it says "Not approved for occupancy." There were many of this notifications, from different dates, some from this year and some from last. An official paper also detailed what needed to be attended to...apparently the foundation wasn't good, and the water had been turned off...etc.

An attempt to show the detail on the eaves. :p

The other side. This shows the second-story floor - that small bump-out is up on the second-story. It does not look stable, and I would not want to walk in that area!

The back stairs, which leads up to that bump-out. They looked very unstable and ready to collapse at any moment.

This is a house further down the street. I have no clue if it is abandoned or not, but it looked sort of run-down. When I was taking these pictures, there was an old-car show going on, that is why the cars are parked there. The truck on the left was rusted and I thought the juxtapostion would be neat, but there were so many people I wasn't able to set up a decent shot. Same goes for the hotel. Old cars were parked all along the street and it was hard to take pictures without getting numerous miscellaneous people in them :p
