Stopping by with another round of abandoned farmhouse photos. My previous posts featuring houses in this same area in rural Saskatchewan, Canada are here and here.
Like always, we found some pretty cool stuff this time around.

I always obey the signs if there are any.

To think someone did all this by hand...

We pulled into the yard here but the bushes were quite overgrown around this place. There was also the distinct smell of skunk in the air...pass!

So I was really excited about this one...

...until I saw this bugger in the yard...

I'm not afraid of racoons but I don't ever want to corner one in a house by accident.
I'll be back in the winter when I can see if there are tracks in the snow.

DSC_1113

Nothing to see inside this one. Door was locked and the window was too high for me to climb through.

DSC_1116

Again, the bushes were grown up around the only entrance I could find by the porch. Nature's reclamation process.

I'm not in the business of breaking and entering but this church had me tempted.

Of all the houses I've been in, first time I've ever found a porn magazine. Pinups, yes, girl on girl, no.

Peeking in through the window on the front door. It was shut tight but the back door was open.

This was the only place my fiancé and I have ever been in that had such an open main floor. He was like "I bet this was the shop and the living quarters are upstairs." He was right.

No access so I stuck my camera through the window.

Thanks for taking the pictures and posting. Raccoons says all that house belongs to them, okay?

PS those trophies in the first picture. First I was thinking "quidditch trophies" as the figures were holding a stick with something on one end. Lacrosse?

And all those pictures left behind too...

There is a sadness. A feeling that makes you want to cry.. I can feel a presence when I go to these old places. If only that couch, dish or table could talk. Who wouldn't save pictures like that? Like at a thrift shop. I can almost hear the old Christmas decorations talking about the memories... I still use my Dad's shaver and wear the gold chain my Mom gave me.. Great post..

Some of them do have a very sad feeling to them. I always wonder why certain things weren't important enough to take! Although I do like it when some things are left so I can try to guess who lived there.

Hi Purple, really enjoyed looking at you pictures of abandoned places in rural Sask. I have a page called abandoned properties on PEI if you care to look around. PS. Raccoons are always a hazard of the job, Tony...

Wow, amazing pictures. I can't believe that people would move out and leave everything, even their clothes behind.
My Gran had a treadle Singer like that one. She eventually had it electrified and just kept on using it. Interesting wood stove in that one also.

Thanks for posting!

Thank you!

Some of them I do feel like people just left and moved somewhere else, but others it's evident (like the one with the photos still on the wall), that an elderly person living there passed away and the family just collected everything of value or real sentiment and left everything else.

These are beautiful!

I have always wanted to do this - every time I pass by buildings like these on a road trip I want to pull over and explore...

I would though, take down the one picture from of the tax assessment left behind, as it has personal information on it :)

I can't even find his name anywhere or his obituary so I'm really not worried about it.

Not these ones, they're from various locations in the middle of nowhere but all within an hours drive from my starting point.
