There is a city that sits on the Canadian border and has an entire street of boarded up homes. The city is slated to begin demolishing these homes next year. Unfortunately I was unable to go inside any of these houses.

It bears a strong resemblance to the street I grew up on in (not far away) Ann Arbor, Michigan. Many of those houses still look very sturdy. Is this something to do with the Gordie Howe bridge project?

That kind of sucks; I guess it means all these people were kicked out of their homes—or were they bought out?

Eminent domain at work—amirite?

I'm oddly gratified that I'm not the only one who saw Michigan in these houses. My biomom's from there and some of these look JUST like my greatgrandparents' home. Man I'd so want a look inside.

It's Windsor, which is directly across the river from Detroit!

It feels oddly like death row knowing that they will be torn down. What a waste of perfectly good architecture. These houses looked like they were so loved.

I can picture kids trick-or-treating up and down that road. I can only imagine its eerily quiet there in the night.
